This article concerns the career of Finnish game music composer Jonne Valtonen and his thoughts on the music of video games, working in the video game industry, and the wider culture around video games during the last 30 years. Valtonen has worked on music within and outside of games for decades both on a domestic and international level. Valtonen discusses his career path, unique features of game music, composition, and the development of the culture of the music of games throughout recent decades. The text of the article is based on a semi-structured interview that was conducted in person with Valtonen.
