Automaattiset sävelkorjauksen työkalut ja niiden käyttö nykypäivän popmusiikissa
Abstract
This article discusses pitch correction in popular music. The most popular and well-known tool to tune the human voice is Auto-Tune. It is a computer program that works as a standalone or as a plug-in in a digital audio workstation (DAW). Auto-Tune has become so popular that its name is often used to describe any pitch correction process, regardless of whether the Auto-Tune program was used. Digital voice tuning programs are used for various reasons. According to resent studies there are financial benefits to using pitch correction tools, as less takes in the studio are required when the voice is tuned digitally. However, although utilising pitch correction tools offers financial benefits, the most common reason for using these tools is the importance of vocal tracks in popular music. Although pitch correction tools are a key element in modern music, some audiences still prefer music without autotune. These audiences find the perfectly tuned vocals to sound artificial. Furthermore, digitally tuned vocals may also affect the development of music in negative ways in the future.
